Abbreviations (US Terms)

• ch = chain
• sl st = slip stitch
• sc = single crochet
• hdc = half double crochet
• dc = double crochet
• inc = increase
• dec = decrease
• st = stitch

Step 1: Crochet the Body

Using white yarn:

Round 1:

Make a magic ring and work 6 sc into the ring. (6 stitches)

Round 2:

Inc in each stitch around. (12 stitches)

Round 3–6:

Sc in each stitch around. (12 stitches per round)

Lightly stuff the body with a small amount of filling. Do not overstuff; the body should remain slightly firm but soft.

Round 7:

Dec around. (6 stitches)

Fasten off and close the opening securely. Weave in ends neatly.

The body should be oval-shaped and slightly plump.

Step 2: Upper Wings (Make 2)

Using deep purple yarn:

Chain 10.

Row 1:

Sc in the second chain from hook and across. (9 stitches)

Row 2:

Ch 1, turn. Hdc across.

Row 3:

Ch 1, turn. Dc across.

Fasten off.

To create a layered effect, switch to light lavender yarn and surface crochet curved lines across the wing to mimic natural wing patterns. You can also embroider small oval accents or add contrasting spots.

Repeat to make the second upper wing.

For a more rounded shape, you can slightly curve the edges by adding an extra dc at the center stitch and decreasing slightly at the ends.
