Purple Crochet Macaw – Amigurumi Pattern

1. Body (Deep Purple)

Start with deep purple yarn.

  • Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
  • Rnd 2: inc in each st (12)
  • Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) ×6 (18)
  • Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) ×6 (24)
  • Rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) ×6 (30)
  • Rnd 6: (4 sc, inc) ×6 (36)
  • Rnd 7–18: sc around (36) – 12 rounds
  • Begin stuffing firmly now and continue as you close.
  • Rnd 19: (4 sc, dec) ×6 (30)
  • Rnd 20: (3 sc, dec) ×6 (24)
  • Rnd 21: (2 sc, dec) ×6 (18)
  • Rnd 22: (1 sc, dec) ×6 (12)
  • Rnd 23: dec around (6)

Fasten off, weave tail through remaining 6 sts, pull tight to close. Leave long tail for sewing if head is made separately.

2. Head (Deep Purple)

  • Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
  • Rnd 2: inc around (12)
  • Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) ×6 (18)
  • Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) ×6 (24)
  • Rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) ×6 (30)
  • Rnd 6: (4 sc, inc) ×6 (36)
  • Rnd 7–15: sc around (36) – 9 rounds
  • Insert safety eyes between Rnds 8–9, about 8–10 sts apart.
  • Stuff head firmly.
  • Rnd 16: (4 sc, dec) ×6 (30)
  • Rnd 17: (3 sc, dec) ×6 (24)
  • Rnd 18: (2 sc, dec) ×6 (18)
  • Rnd 19: (1 sc, dec) ×6 (12)
  • Rnd 20: dec around (6)

Fasten off, close hole. Sew head securely to top of body.

3. Beak

Upper Beak (White)

  • Rnd 1: MR, 5 sc (5)
  • Rnd 2: inc around (10)
  • Rnd 3–6: sc around (10) – 4 rounds
  • Stuff lightly. Fasten off, leave tail for sewing.

Lower Beak (Black)

  • Rnd 1: MR, 5 sc (5)
  • Rnd 2: (1 sc, inc) ×2, 1 sc (7)
  • Rnd 3–5: sc around (7) – 3 rounds
  • Stuff lightly. Fasten off, leave tail.

Sew lower beak slightly under upper beak to form curved macaw shape. Attach beak centered on face between eyes.
